20 March 2009THE TWO SEXES: MAN’S SELF APPRAISAL

1 Undress and stand in front of a full length mirror. Examine your naked body carefully, from

head to toe. Imagine you are seeing yourself for the first time. Look at yourself from every

angle.

2 Stand, kneel, bend and then move around. Sit with your legs apart and then together. Look over

your shoulder to see the curve of your back and the set of your buttocks.

3 Focus attention on your best points; everybody has some. They might be the breadth of your

chest, the flatness of your stomach, the fullness of your hair, or your height.

4 Then pay attention to the features that you dislike and try to see them in a more positive way.

For instance, while you may think yourself shorter than you would like, you may be trim and

perfectly proportioned.

5 Now study your genitals. Feel your testes; one, usually the left, will hang slightly below the

other. Your flaccid penis will probably be between 5 and 10 centimetres (2 and 4 inches) long

and, when you touch it, you will find the most sensitive area is the head and, in particular, the

ridge on the underside.

6 Finish by taking a warm bath. Soap your hands and explore your body with them, noticing all

the different sensations you experience by changes in touch and pressure. Explore your penis

and testicles again, too, if you like, but try to become aware of sensations throughout your

whole body.
